🚨 The Dirty Secret Every American Deserves to Know

Drug companies don’t test their meds against holistic care or lifestyle changes. They only compare drugs to placebos or other drugs. Long-term studies of detox, nutrition, or Ayurvedic approaches? Almost none. Why? There’s no billion-dollar profit in telling people they don't need your product. you don’t need their product.

📚Why I Had to Write This Book

Hi, I’m Dr. Leyla Ali, a pharmacist who believed in the system—until I saw too many patients stuck on the prescription treadmill, especially those with diabetes.

I watched kind, hardworking people refill after refill, year after year… without anyone asking why their bodies were failing in the first place.

Then it hit me:

Relying on doctors and pharmacists for your complete healthcare is like relying on a pesticide expert to maintain your entire vegetable garden.

I wrote Off Balance to pull back the curtain—so you can take your health back into your own hands.

💬 What Readers Are Saying

Sadly many American's have gotten in the habit of using prescribed drugs as a long-term crutch. This can never create good health and often leads to serious problems. Years ago my daughter turned to prescription drugs as a way to numb her pain and with time the amount she needed to "feel good" significantly increased. When she accidentally overdosed on opiates (leaving eight children behind!) her death was ruled a suicide. Her seemingly innocent drug addiction caused a lot of problems in her family both before and after her death. This book contains an important message that makes a lot of sense. I hope it's well read and it's message is freely passed around. Thank you Dr. Leyla Ali for writing this ultra beneficial and enlightening book!! Hopefully the information in OFF BALANCE will sink in and prevent many other people from having the same experience as my daughter and her family.

I found this book extremely valuable in the sense of learning to discern when a physician is prescribing unneeded medicines. Or perhaps avoiding and alternative treatment just to prescribe medicine. I don't agree with everything said but over all it is very enlightening. I think it's important to know that we can question the physician and that we can seek alternative treatments in some cases. Over all it is a good book to have as a reference and also to see things from a different perspective. Really appreciate this work. Thank you!

Don’t rely on medicines to cure sloppy lifestyle habits. Off Balance is an eye-opening book written by a pharmacist who knows from the inside out the benefits and risks of medications. Most importantly she unveils both the trend toward overmedicating and the use of pharmaceuticals to solve everything as well as the increasing passivity of people who don’t want to change their lifestyles. It reveals a system that is truly off balance. While I don’t believe her point is to bash the medical profession she is exposing how we got where we are and how people have been misled away from natural healing ,self responsibility and self advocacy. Her interviews with healthcare professionals who were failed by the medical community, illustrate what it took for them to take their lives back and heal! I have to say the book was eye-opening. It made me think about my current prescription taking Metformin for a condition of pre-diabetes. The reality is my body doesn’t need more Metformin, it needs less sugar! I took a long hard look at my diet and have made changes that will be lifelong changes. As health-conscious as I am, I surprisingly slipped into the passivity of erroneously thinking, “ oh heck I’m taking Medicine, so I might as well have this dessert.” I thank the author for waking me up and encouraging me to take more control. Every drug carries a side effect so be mindful of Your responsibility in creating health and don’t rely on medicines to fix sloppy lifestyle habits.

How to Stop Being the Perfect Customer for Big Pharma—Especially if You’re Living with Diabetes

By Dr. Leyla Ali, PharmD

Dear Friend,

I was raised to believe doctors and drugs were the only way. My father was a respected surgeon. Our medicine cabinet was always full, and if we caught a sniffle, priority appointments appeared like magic. When I became a pharmacist, I believed I’d chosen a noble profession—helping sick people get well.

But behind the counter, I discovered a shocking truth: the system isn’t designed to cure you. It’s designed to keep you coming back. And for people with diabetes, that truth is magnified.

You may know the drill:

  • A pill for your blood sugar.

  • Another for blood pressure.

  • One for cholesterol.

  • Then something for the side effects of the first three.

Soon you're a "great patient"-compliant, refilling, and dependent.

In Off Balance: The American Way of Health, I take you behind the scenes. I reveal how the American healthcare machine turned diabetes into a profit engine, and why you don’t have to play that role anymore.

What I Saw from Inside the System

I watched as people were prescribed drug after drug while no one asked why their bodies were out of balance. I filled prescriptions for patients whose conditions never improved—only managed. Meanwhile, their disease continued to progress. And I realized:

“Relying on doctors and pharmacists for your complete healthcare is like relying on a pesticide expert to maintain your entire vegetable garden.”

That’s not care. That’s maintenance for profit.

Why This Matters If You Have Diabetes

Western medicine excels at acute emergencies. But when it comes to chronic conditions like diabetes, the focus shifts from curing to controlling—and controlling means lifelong medication. Drug companies test their products against placebos or other drugs, but rarely against detox, nutrition, or holistic therapies.

Why would they?

A cure isn’t profitable.

Off Balance uncovers:

  • The suppressed history of holistic options that once thrived in America.

  • How food, toxins, and stress quietly drive your blood sugar rollercoaster.

  • Practical cleansing and detox basics—tools you can use alongside or outside traditional care.

  • Inspiring stories of people who stepped away from the prescription treadmill and found genuine healing.

A Better Way to Live with Diabetes

Imagine…

  • Waking up with steady energy, not sugar crashes.

  • Needing fewer pills, not more.

  • Feeling empowered to ask your doctor better questions—or find practitioners who see you as more than a chart number.

This isn’t about throwing away your medications overnight or ignoring your physician. It’s about owning your health decisions. It’s about knowing that drugs are only one piece of the puzzle—not the whole picture.

Why I Wrote This Book for You

I filed for bankruptcy after a series of bad investments, burned out working in retail pharmacies, and began questioning everything I had been taught. Then I read several books about natural healing, where I discovered the importance of cleansing and detoxifying the body. I was amazed by what I learned because none of this had ever been taught in pharmacy school. I began to realize how deeply our diets and daily habits can shape our health—and how little we were taught about these important connections in pharmacy school. That new information lit a fire in me to seek the truth and share what I had learned.

I wrote Off Balance to help you see that there are choices: choices your doctor or insurance company will never mention. Choices that can transform your diabetes care from a life sentence to a new beginning.
